How should I prepare for surgery in Türkiye?
Give the surgeon your full health history and list of medicines, and follow their instructions on what to stop before surgery. Get your plan, quote and aftercare in writing. Then plan the practical side: documents, insurance, money, enough recovery time before flying, comfortable travel home and someone to help you once you are back.

Health
- Tell the surgeon about every health condition, previous operation and allergy
- List all medicines and supplements, and ask which to stop before surgery and when
- Ask what you should do about smoking, alcohol and exercise beforehand
- Tell your GP about your plans
Paperwork
- Passport valid for your whole trip, and any entry requirements for Türkiye
- Written treatment plan, quote, consent information and aftercare instructions
- Insurance that covers planned treatment and complications, if available. See travel insurance.
- Contact details for the clinic and for Turwel
Travel and recovery
- Book flights only after the surgeon has confirmed the dates. See how long before flying home.
- Pack loose, comfortable clothes that are easy to put on after surgery
- Consider bringing someone with you, and arrange help at home for the first days back
- Plan time off work that includes recovery, not only the trip
