- Cost: treatment costs can be lower than private treatment in the UK. Compare like for like: what is included, the clinicians, follow-up and the cost of travel and time off.
- Travel: direct flights from many UK airports take around four hours, which makes a consultation trip or a return visit easier to plan.
- Experience with international patients: many providers in Istanbul and other cities have teams used to working with patients from abroad, including in English.
- Recovery away from home: some people prefer to recover somewhere quiet, with practical help arranged.
What should I weigh up before deciding?
- Aftercare happens mostly at home. Agree in writing what the provider offers after you return, and for how long.
- You need time to recover before flying. A rushed trip is a common reason for problems.
- Quality varies between providers, as it does everywhere. Choose on the quality of care, not on price.
- Further visits may be needed for some treatments, such as dental implants. Plan for the whole course of treatment, not one trip.
