Ask for the name of the clinician who will treat you, their training and qualifications, the professional bodies they are registered with, how long they have practised and how often they perform your procedure. What should I ask?
- Who will carry out my treatment, and who performs each stage?
- What training and qualifications do they have?
- Which professional bodies are they registered with?
- How long have they been practising, and how many of this procedure have they carried out?
- Do they speak a language I understand, or will an interpreter be present?
Why does it matter who treats me?
The clinician matters more than the clinic name. Knowing who will assess you, who performs each part of the treatment and who looks after you afterwards helps you judge whether the plan suits you and who to contact if you have questions.
